Important changes for Uniform Medical Plan (UMP) in 2012

New name and plan choices
Effective January 1, 2012, the UMP will be called UMP Classic. This plan is available to active employees and retirees (including those with Medicare). In addition, a new plan, the UMP Consumer-Directed Health Plan (UMP CDHP), will be available to active employees and non-Medicare retirees. This plan includes a Health Savings Account (HSA). A high-level overview of the benefits was provided in the October issue of this newsletter. View the article.

Member cards
There are no changes to UMP member cards for 2012. Member cards will only be issued to new UMP members. Current UMP members who remain on UMP Classic or elect UMP CDHP will continue to use their existing member card. There will not be changes to their existing identification number, UDW alpha prefix, or the group number of 10003948. As a reminder, please ask the patient for the most current card at each visit to ensure accurate claims processing. View a sample member card.
