Cancer screening initiative underway
TriWest is working to increase the awareness of preventive cancer screenings among TRICARE beneficiaries in the West Region. It is launching a communications campaign for the following three Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) measures:
- Colorectal cancer screening
- Breast cancer screening/mammogram
- Cervical cancer screening/Pap test
TriWest will be focusing on the following preventive care and screening guidelines for TRICARE beneficiaries:
- Colorectal screening: beneficiaries ages 50 to 64 years old (or age 40, if at increased risk for colorectal cancer)
- Mammogram: female beneficiaries ages 40 to 64 years old
- Cervical cancer screening/Pap test: female beneficiaries ages 21 to 64 years old
Please encourage your TRICARE beneficiaries to obtain all age- and gender-appropriate cancer screening
