June is National Safety Month

We often talk about the role nutrition and exercise play in wellness, but another good way to steer clear of your doctor's office is to avoid injury. To that end, we'd like to highlight the fact that June is National Safety Month.
Every June, the National Safety Council encourages organizations to get involved and participate in National Safety Month. Each week has a theme that brings attention to critical safety issues:
Also, on Saturday, June 18, Be Well Washington, a free health fair open to the public, will offer health and safety information and services that you and your clients may find valuable:
- American Lung Association will offer a free indoor air quality assessment, in addition to education about indoor air quality.
- Brain Injury Association of WA (BIAWA) will provide free materials and education about brain injury awareness and prevention.
- The CHP Group will present a short skit demonstrating potential fall hazards, proper techniques for getting up after a fall, and helpful tips to prevent falls.
- Northwest Burn Foundation will provide materials for children and parents, including coloring activities, scald prevention kits and safety tips.
- Seattle Police Department will explain how to properly dispose of old prescription medicines.
You may find helpful information and resources to share with your clients at the National Safety Council website.
