08/06/2010   Medicare Advantage Annual Election Period approaches

We are excited about the upcoming 2011 Annual Election Period for Medicare Advantage (MA) and Part D. In a few weeks you will be receiving a notice including the Agent Certification dates and times for September, as well as how to register. Remember: in order to keep selling and receiving commissions for Regence MedAdvantage and Part D plans, you must be certified annually.

Note: There is a Special Election Period (SEP) for 2010 for anyone who may lose their current Medicare Advantage plan that is not renewing.

Per Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS); Non-renewals: An SEP exists for members of MA plans that will be affected by plan or contract non-renewals and plan service area reductions that are effective Jan. 1 of the contract year. In order to provide sufficient time for members to evaluate their options, the SEP begins Oct. 1 and ends on Jan. 31 of the following year. During this SEP, a beneficiary may choose an effective date of Nov. 1, Dec. 1, Jan. 1, or Feb. 1; The effective date may not be earlier than the date the new MA organization receives the enrollment request. Only enrollment requests received in January will have an effective date of Feb. 1.

We look forward to helping our certified agents enroll these members in Regence MedAdvantage plans for 2010 and 2011. Thank you for your continued partnership!
