Council for Disability Awareness educates about likelihood, costs of disability
Did you know there is a great Web site that can help educate your
clients about preparing for and preventing disability? The Council
for Disability Awareness is a non-profit organization
dedicated to helping the American workforce become aware of the
growing rates of disability, its financial consequences and the
value of planning responsibly for a disability that could prevent
one from earning a living.
The site features a useful tool called the Personal Disability Quotient (PDQ). The PDQ
calculates as a percentage the chance a person has of suffering an
illness or injury that could force them to miss work. The
calculator engages users by providing a personalized PDQ figure,
educates them by showing how much of their future income is at
stake, and empowers them to take action with information and
resources that can help them reduce their PDQ. Users can also
calculate the Earned Income Quotient (EIQ), which is the amount of
income they could potentially lose if they become disabled.
Tell your clients about this Web site and feel free to distribute
an informational flyer.
