RadianceSM dental plan is discontinued
There has been a recent change to our new dental offerings that may affect some of your quotes and renewals. The Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) has determined that, since Regence is licensed as a Health Care Services Contractor (HCSC), we are unable to sell dental products without a network. Therefore, the OIC has directed us to stop marketing and selling the Radiance dental plans effective Jan. 7, 2009.
The OIC will allow us to transition any active groups at their renewal to ExpressionsSM or EncoreSM, each of which has a contracted network.
No new quotes are being issued for Radiance dental plans as of Jan. 7, 2009. If you received a quote for Radiance prior to Jan. 7, 2009, we are permitted to honor that quote so long as the effective date is prior to April 1, 2009. However, we encourage existing quotes to be changed to Expressions or Encore.
For any group with an effective date of April 1, 2009, or later, we will offer an Expressions dental plan, which most closely matches the group's current Radiance dental plan. Our FAQ provides some additional details. Of course, as with any renewal, the group will also be free to choose any open dental plan.
