Chart explains cancer screening mandate on Regence plans
In March we notified you of the colorectal cancer screening mandate that was passed earlier this year for implementation on July 1, 2008.
The colorectal cancer screening mandate requires health plans to provide coverage or benefits for colorectal cancer screening exams and lab tests consistent with U.S. Preventive Services Task Force or CDC guidelines. Colorectal cancer screening tests include fecal occult blood tests (FOBT), flexible sigmoidoscopies, combination FOBT and flexible sigmoidoscopies, colonoscopies, and double-contrast barium enemas.
The mandate applies to groups that enroll or renew for coverage with effective dates on or after July 1, 2008.
We recently prepared a chart that outlines the impact of this Washington state mandate on our products.
