11/18/2008   New tools replace Group Size Certification letters for small groups

Effective Nov. 1, we no longer will require Group Size Certification letters for groups renewing with fewer than 51 enrolled employees. Additionally, completion is not required for all outstanding Group Size Certifications that we recently mailed. We can now obtain this information via the completed Group Master Application.

Renewals will be issued based upon the group's current pool. For groups that are requesting a new small group quote, we have added a field to Agent Center labeled "Employee Count." This required field will enable us to determine whether your group actually qualifies to be rated via our Small Group (Community) Pool.

When entering the employee count, please enter the average number of employees who were employed during the previous calendar year. That count should include: employees from any affiliated company, business owners, corporate officers, full-time employees, part-time employees, partners, seasonal employees, union employees and employees who work outside Washington. The final count should not include contracted (1099) individuals.

We may still require certification under certain circumstances. For instance, we will require certification when a group enrolled in an association enrolls directly with Regence for coverage outside the association or when a group is newly enrolled with Regence and moves to a different rating pool.

If you have questions, please talk to your Regence Sales contact.
