Endorsement changes pre-existing waiting period credits for Individuals
The Washington State Office of Insurance Commissioner (OIC) asked us to clarify the pre-existing condition waiting period credit language of our Individual benefit contracts.
In response, we have filed an endorsement, which will be attached to all new Individual contracts effective Nov.1, 2008. The new language represents a small change to our administration of pre-existing waiting period credits. In the past, we required applicants to terminate their prior Individual creditable coverage to be eligible for the credit even if their prior coverage was equal to or greater than their new coverage with us. With the endorsement language, we will allow members to keep their prior equal or greater creditable coverage and still be eligible for the credit.
