Puget Sound Health Alliance rolls out the region's most comprehensive report on health care quality
We are committed to keeping our members informed and engaged in their own health care. As part of this commitment we are an active member of the Puget Sound Health Alliance (PSHA), a nonprofit and federally recognized "Chartered Value Data Exchange" organization that gathers and verifies data to produce a snapshot of the region's health for use in community-wide efforts to improve the quality of care for everyone.
We believe that providing cost and quality information to health care consumers is critical in transforming health care. We applaud the Alliance's work in providing the public with clear information about the degree to which evidence-based medical guidelines are followed.
The Community Checkup, released in January, is the most comprehensive public report ever produced in this region. It is based on data compiled from 14 health plans and self-insured purchasers and reflects care provided to about 1.6 million people in the five Washington counties that make up the Puget Sound region.
Collaboration with the PSHA minimizes the need for different organizations, such as ours, to undertake expensive, duplicative measurement efforts. Community collaborative organizations, such as PSHA, generate information that can enable people to improve care and make judicious care decisions—and that helps Regence promote an affordable, sustainable system to serve everyone.
