Regence supports the work of the Puget Sound Health Alliance
The Washington Puget Sound Health Alliance (PSHA) is made up of community members (employers, physicians, hospitals, consumers and health plans) who are working toward a shared goal of improving the quality and costs of health care in their area. While the organization is focused on the Puget Sound area—King, Kitsap, Pierce, Snohomish and Thurston counties in Washington—this collaborative group is viewed as a regional model.
Regence BlueShield is an active member of the PSHA. We share common goals regarding transparency—specifically empowering and educating consumers about quality-of-care issues. This summer, The Regence Foundation awarded a $50,000 grant to PSHA to fund the building of a secure Web-based portal to provide participating clinics with immediate, secure access to all results for their specific clinic, including data regarding individual providers. The public Community Checkup report, released on Nov. 13, 2008, does not show individual results, but instead offers results for clinic locations and clinic systems, as well as by disease/condition group.
Regence is working with regional health plans, employers, consumers and other community leaders to form health collaborative organizations in each of our markets, such as the Puget Sound Health Alliance, to improve the quality and cost of health care for our members.
